In the game, one player is keeper (acted as a monkey) and has to find other player who also need to dive and hide themselves in the water and if the keeper find any player in the water, that player will take turn.
A mount later Mai felt like something cold touching his leg. Mai appeared to the surface and asked :
-Where are you from?
-I am from nearby village, so can i play with you?(Mai and ghost boy appeared to the surface and discussed.)
-Hey, guys, we have another boy to play with so we'll be no more difficult and let him take the money's role as the keeper. After the discussion, they talked to the water ghost boy and said:
-Hey, man, you'll act as the keeper and you have to look for us in the water.
-That's ok (the ghost answered) All the children played with the water spirit merrily.
A long moment later, Mai's group met and uttered , " This boy is very good at diving and he can catch the legs of this and that boy at the same time, so let's now play on the ground and he'd act as the keeper again. " Then , they said to the ghost boy, "you should close your eyes and head down and cannot open them until you hear we cry out KOUK, then you have to find us." Yes, (the ghost boy answered). by playing the game in this manner, the children are more able compared to the ghost boy for some children can climb the trees and others can hide themselves near Raining trees, bushes and bamboo bushes, etc.
When the ghost boy ran into water, Mai's group ran to the ground They continued to play happily until it was almost noon. They then heard the noise of an old woman calling for her boy:
-Son, please come back home and it's not suitable time for playing now. Mai's group looked at each other astonishingly and looked around toward the riverside to see if their mothers called them. At that time,Mai looked far into the middle of the river and saw water spirit emerging with horrible face. And the boy walked over the water toward his mother. then cried out loudly:
-Eh, guys! Ghost! water Ghost!
Everyone shook their legs; some fell to the ground with their legs upward and some fell flat. When they arrived back home, some of them got high fever, chill and so sick that they were unconscious.
When reaching his teenage years and one day, Mai walked a cow to and tied it near a corn plantation where it could feed itself. Mai then heard a sound of a bang and a sound of chewing and cutting corns. As he felt so doubt, Mai took and threw a ball of earth at the area from which the sound came. The sound then stopped for a minute. As the sound started again, Mai threw another piece of earth at the area where the sound came as he thought cows or pigs were eating corns in the plantation; however, he saw nothing. As the sound went on and he felt very doubt, Mai walked into the plantation. only a few walks into the plantation, a man smoke hoarsely:
-" Come in. Hurry up."
Mai answered as the thought the sound was made by his elder cousin:
-"Oh! you are baking and eating corns alone, my elder cousin."
The sound made by the male ghost was getting louder:
-"Hurry up!"
He began to be so terrified that his hair stood on end and look for the one making the sound, but saw no one. He raised his head only to see a man who was 3 meters tall and had hollow eyes and eroded and rotten face. The male ghost held out his hand in order to squeeze Mai's neck while showing its teeth which caused him to be so scared that he ran away and shouted:
-"Help me! [ There ] the ghost, the ghost, the ghost, in the corn plantation." When reaching his adolescence, Mai was hard working . One later afternoon, he went to collect water at a landing [ of a river where people normally collected water]. He had an unclear visible of a man who had the same age to him and was siting quietly and facing the river. Mai didn't pay any attention [ to the man ] as he kept his concentration on collecting water home. As it was getting darker and darker and after he had collected water back and forth for nearly ten time, he noticed the man sat motionless and quietly, he approached and asked the man:
-"Who are you waiting for, man?
The man- who was a ghost and drowned in the river to death-suddenly stood up, had red eyes, turned his face, which was swollen, eroded and rotten, at him and then jumped into the water. These caused him to run away from the water container and carrying stick. Upon his arrival at home, Mai thought the ghost was a boy who played high and seek with him 10 year ago. Afterwards, as he had a strong belief in and liked Buddhism, Mai ordained himself as a Buddhist monk at a Buddhist pagoda. Being a Buddhist monk Mai was a hard-working monk. In addition to memorizing Dharma and prayers, Mai helped with work in the monastery the abbot who was satisfied with his work. One morning, ordained Mai went to beg for food near a farm and reached a thicket of bamboo from which he heard sounds:
-please some in ( a sound made by a woman )
-Yes, please come in, ordained Mai ( a sound made by man )
-Where are you going? it is very hot. please come in to my house ( a sound made by a kid)
Ordained Mai raised his head, look at right and left direction where he saw no one, then of people with the woman thicket of bamboo full of people with the woman sticking the tongue out and lengthening her hair, with the man sticking the eyes out and running up and down in the thicket of bamboo. Ordained Mai then rolled up his Buddhist monk robe, walked and ran very fat to his room in the monastery. Being a monk fir only three years, Mai then quitted beinga monk and earned his living by doing farm. One day in the afternoon, he attended his relative's wedding ceremony near Hann Chey Mountain. After the feast, Mai went to have a dance and then to piss. He then saw a tall ans beautiful woman with whom he fell in love and wanted to follow her in order that he could know where she lives so as to get engaged to her. Mai asked: "Why are you standing alone here, honey? I will take you home." The woman who was a ghost went away without any talks. Mai, as he desired to know where she lived, followed her until be arrived at the foothill. The female ghost slowly lengthened her hair until it touched the ground. Mai could not see so clearly that he asked the female ghost: " Why are you walking so fast honey? Please wait for me." The female ghost with eroded and rotten face then turned her head, opened her eyes as big as a chines style rice bowl, stuck out her tongue ans lengthened unorganized hair, which caused Mai to run straight to the wedding hall. Several months later, Mai got married to a woman. One later afternoon, he drove a [cow] cart from his farm. When he arrived in front of a pagoda before the riverfront where the Bodhi Tree stayed, water was sprayed over him who he was so startled that he shouted: "who dare to pour water on me?" But nothing appeared while the cows were running so fast that the cart almost were running collapsed, which made Mai have goose bumps. He then heard a woman a lulling her child to sleep on the Bodhi Tree. He was shaking and tried to control his feeling until he reached his house. Seven years later, Mai had two children. Beside farming, Mai was a fisherman good at catching fish. One evening, he went to line fishing line ( consisting only of a line and attached hooks extending across a body of water) at a lake far [ from his house ], but near his dry season rice fields. He could catch a few fish during the right. He then made fire in the earthen cooker on the head of his boat and grilled the fish using the flexible tong of wood. While he kept moving the fish until they were cooked, he heard a sound of people walking in to the water and padding the boat, which moved closer and closer to him. Then a sound was made which rumbled across the body of the lake.
-" Could you gave me some fish?" the sound said.
Mai didn't pay attention to the sound, but only kept attention to grilling fish and said:
-" How can I share with you because I can catch few fish today? "
-" Could you give me one grilled fish? " the sound continued.
He then tried to look for the one uttering such remarks, but only saw a ghost who was tall as half of the sugar palm tree, was starting him by making a face and was holding out his hand for fish. He was so startled that he carries the tong of wood of the fish in one hand and the knife in the other ans looked at the ghost as if ha wanted to fight against the ghost. Suddenly, he tried to control his feeling, took the paddle and paddled the boat slowly backwards, but the ghost kept following him. Few minute later, the ghost disappeared. When telling the story to this point, Old man Mai tells his grandchildren not to be scared of ghost, reasoning that it is an abstract belief, a picture or shadow which we can see for a short period of time so we have to control our feeling, then it disappear and that we should be afraid of bad persons who like stealing or snatching things and robbing and raping
